Protecting and strengthening the liver

Alcohol tincture or standardized powder extract

Milk thistle is very effective in protection and regeneration of the liver. Milk thistle may help treat liver tumours, cancers or skin problems secondary to liver disease.

Milk thistle can help reduce the potentially damaging effects of anaesthesia, and the toxic effects of heavy metals.

For liver treatment, use 1/4 teaspoon of alcohol tincture per 20 pounds of the animal’s body weight, diluted in water and added to the animal’s food.

• Milk thistle should not be used as a daily supplement. It should only be used in situations where the liver is under stress.
• Use standardized powder extract for animals with severe liver damage, or animals with alcohol hypersensitivity.
• Always consult with a veterinarian before proceeding with use of milk thistle.
• Avoid using milk thistle during pregnancy.
