Oat
Oatstraw is very useful for aging or debilitated animals as a nervous system tonic. It contains a high level of vitamins and minerals essential for nervous system function. It can also be useful for problems such as epilepsy, tremors, paralysis and twitching.
Oatmeal can also be used as a soothing bath for skin problems.
For internal use, infuse a heaping teaspoon of oatstraw in 8 ounces of hot water. Allow to cool. Give 1 ounce of cooled tea daily for cats and small dogs, 2-4 ounces to larger dogs. Glycerin tinctures can also be used at a rate of 1/4-1/2 teaspoon per 20 pounds of the animal’s body weight.
